Kaya is a spreadable coconut caramel traditional to Southeast Asia. The deli’s signature spread is meant to be a household favourite! Our kaya is traditionally made with pasteurised free range duck eggs - stirred for at least 3-4 hours to develop deep caramelisation and natural self preserving properties.

It pairs perfectly on toast with a slab of salted butter on top. Also goes well with breakfast oats, pancakes, waffles, crumpets, glutinous rice, chinese donuts, whipped into buttercream icing, enriching your cake batter… the possibilities are infinite!

Each jar contains 220g of kaya (25 servings). The deli has 2 flavours of kaya available :

Hainanese Kaya

Finished with dark toasted caramel to give a dark brown colour, full bodied and sweet coconuty flavour.

Nyonya Pandan Kaya

Finished with natural pandan concentrate to give a green colour, aromatic and light floral flavour.

Once opened, keep refrigerated at 5°C or can be frozen up to 3 months. The kaya does not freeze solid and its gooey texture remains even when “frozen”!

The Hainanese kaya is best before 5 months from date of production or thawing whereas the Nyonya Pandan kaya has a home-tested shelf life of 4 months. Our Hainanese kaya has been shelf life tested in room temperature by an accredited lab for 6 months, with excellent results.

As kaya is handmade to order, there may be slight variations to colour and texture between batches.

Contains dairy (only in the hainanese kaya), free range duck eggs, sugar, coconut cream, seasalt and natural essence from pandan leaves . Vegetarian and Gluten free. No added preservatives or artificial additives.
